Hotel Le Gardenia - ex Lutetia

This was a distressing stay for us, particularly for my wife, and we felt unsafe as an international couple. The receptionist seemed under the influence and behaved unprofessionally. After we chose a different room, the price no longer matched the amount quoted by phone. He made inappropriate comments and repeatedly came into our room, lingering without reason. The hotel fell short of basic professionalism and guest safety, and I strongly advise against staying here.

The receptionist seemed impaired when we arrived and acted unprofessionally. Once we chose a different room from the one discussed by phone, he changed the quoted price. He also made inappropriate comments and kept entering our room without a valid reason, staying inside long enough to make my wife extremely uncomfortable. As an international couple, we found the experience especially distressing. It was one of our worst hotel stays, and having someone who appears under the influence dealing with guests at reception raises serious safety concerns. I wouldn’t recommend this place under any circumstances.

The room got quite cold at night, and I couldn’t find any heating vent, central or otherwise. There was only one charging port, no tissues or hair dryer, and no towels in the bathroom, so I had to buy one from the medina. The mattress was extremely hard and I couldn’t sleep. The hand shower holder was broken, and the toilet had no lights; it was separated from the bathroom by a door. There’s no lift, and breakfast wasn’t included, though that had already been stated in the booking. The marina view was great. I loved Tangier on my first visit, but the hotel was a big letdown for the price.
