The terraces on the entrance level have a couple of pleasant, inexpensive restaurant-cafés with lovely ocean views. Some places there are reasonably priced, and from parts of the terrace you can see the Strait of Gibraltar, city beach, new marina, and Kasbah. I shop at Marjane Market regularly. I used to buy salmon from a nearby specialty fish shop, but it shut permanently after the Covid pandemic ruined its business. The building is on Avenue Mohammed V and combines apartments with a shopping mall. There's underground parking, entered from the side street below Hotel Rembrandt. The mall isn't maintained well by its owners and management, especially compared with Tangier's other four modern centers, Socco Alto, Tanger City Center, Ibn Batouta Mall, and Marjane. There's no heating or air-conditioning, aside from occasional heating or cooling in the large supermarket. The escalators have been a recurring problem. In late March 2019, after I returned from a two and a half months trip abroad, I was glad they were working, but the down escalator later stopped for over six months. On January 21, 2020, neither escalator had been repaired. Acima supermarket became a Marjane Market in October 2020. The down escalator was out again for months in spring-summer 2021, then repaired by November. It was still working in January 2022, so people didn't have to walk down about 40 steps, but by May 8, 2022 it had been broken for several days. It needs a permanent fix and proper maintenance. Both escalators were out for weeks in September and October 2023. The down one was broken again in November 2024 and was still out in summer 2025. Total disgrace. The elevators going up and down work now, but there's graffiti all over the outside doors. You worry about getting trapped inside, and a working elevator is essential here for disabled and elderly people who can't walk down 40 steps. The loudspeakers are another awful problem. One Friday afternoon, as I walked toward the downstairs supermarket, a bull-horn speaker blasted a deafening sound. You don't get that kind of unexpected, extremely loud annoyance in Tangier's other large, professionally run malls. It was so loud it must frighten some people, and I couldn't wait to get outside. On my way out, I saw two more bull horn speakers near the top of the escalators, apparently making similarly loud, distracting noise. No other mall would allow this. The Tanger Boulevard owner, manager, or businessman really should remove them permanently.
