Villa Mar Cala

Ghada put in real effort, did our laundry for free, brought fresh flowers, and got the drain cleared. The coffee was great. The street was still noisy, and roosters woke us early each morning. Thanks, Ghada. The owner doesn't seem to care about paying guests, and it's the owner who needs to rethink how they're treated, especially when reviews on TripAdvisor carry so much weight. At check-in the staff were friendly, though the language gap made things difficult on both sides. We got permission to use fridge space for our budget meals, and messaging worked well at first. The villa was empty, and the pool had no water, so it couldn't be used. We'd booked a double room with a terrace and asked again for one double bed at check-in. Instead, room 6 had two single beds with squeaky wooden frames. We were told no double rooms were available. The bathroom was tiny, about 1.5m x 1.5m, with the shower, toilet, and sink all crowded together. The toilet paper had to come out before showering, there was no fan, and the room stayed wet. There were black hairs in the bathroom and on the pillow, though we're grey haired. Since the place was empty, we checked room 7. It had a double bed, terrace, and normal-sized bathroom, and looked ready; other empty rooms had double beds too. I messaged at 6pm to ask to move and got no reply. I sent another at 8am the next morning, again with no reply. At 9am reception said room 7 wasn't ready and offered room 5, with the same twin beds and tiny bathroom, and no terrace. I insisted on a double bed and usable bathroom. Management then offered room 7 for an extra 800 mad. What a joke. On days 2 and 3 there was no room change, and the shower drain clogged until water was up to our ankles.
