I’d agreed the dates and price with Jamal online, and he seemed very nice. But when I arrived with my heavy bags, the place was closed. He sent another man to collect me and take me to a different hotel, one with lots of bad online comments. I recognized it from the other man’s profile picture. I refused, but he kept trying to persuade me to go there. Jamal said he’d forgotten to mention the closure and claimed the man worked for him. I don’t believe that was true. It seemed like he was trying to sell me a stay at another accommodation. An honest host should have told me beforehand. The whole thing wasted a lot of my time and energy. Shame on Jamal. Don’t go here, it felt like a big scam.

The hostel itself is gorgeous, and you can see the care that went into it. There’s a lovely terrace with a great view. Jamal was a brilliant host and a wonderful person, taking us around the city and trying to make all our wishes happen. We had such a great time. Thanks for everything, Jamal. If you ever visit Czech Republic or Slovakia, you’ve got a friend there.

The rooftop terrace overlooking the oasis was a real highlight, and breakfast was delicious. The hostel felt cosy, and Jamal made us feel so welcome. Best hostel of our trip.

Such a laid-back vibe here. There are cosy spots all over the hostel, even good places to work, and everything’s painted and decorated with care. The rooms are nice and have lockers. We did a great tour with the hostel to the different Goges, walked in the valley, and went climbing. There’s so much beautiful nature around that I’d recommend spending extra nights in Tinghir. Thanks for a lovely stay, guys!

The rooftop views are amazing, and the location is perfect. Jamal was so hospitable, taking me around town to see the historic mosque and try local food. His place is lovingly decorated and kept sparkling clean, and breakfast was delicious. Just be warned, you might find it hard to leave!
