Hotel Berane

I booked three nights on booking for $252, with cancellation allowed up to 24 hours before the stay. Then they called asking me to cancel and take a $220 discounted rate, including one meal and my dog, saying it was to avoid the booking.com fee. I later found out they wouldn’t honor the $220 and would charge extra for both the meal and my dog. I tried to cancel permanently, but they won’t confirm it. Don’t trust them.

Getting out on the road was the best part of this hotel. My room smelled, had ants, cables ran across the doorway, and the door wouldn’t close properly. The food orders were wrong three times and some items never arrived. The waiter was rude and refused to split the bill across more than one card. The meal also made me sick.

The breakfast was plentiful, and I was glad to finally get eggs that weren’t greasy or fried hard around the edges. I’m not fussy and usually stay in Hostels. The receptionist was very friendly, helpful, and spoke English very well. I liked the restaurant and bar, which look different from those in other casual hotels. The place is a little run down, but everything worked. My travel mates thought the beds were too soft; mine was fine.

I paid 70€ and got no sleep. Live music in the hotel lobby was blaring at 1:30 AM. There was no hand soap in the bathroom and no safe for valuables. The waiters were friendly and the food was nice, but this place was useless for sleeping.
