Blue Marlin

Waking up to that incredible sea view is something special. It’s apartment style rather than a hotel, so it feels comfortable and homey. There’s no staff, which lets you make your own routine and gives the place a peaceful feel. Everything was spotless, quiet, and relaxing. I highly recommend it if you want to enjoy your stay in Budva.

The flat at Blue Marlin, Budva looked nothing like the Booking.com or Google photos. When we brought it up at check-in, the guy just shrugged and said, “This is all we have.” No apology or attempt to help, just indifference. The place was filthy and stained, including the bedding, kitchen, pots and pans, bathroom, and sofa. We didn’t feel comfortable sitting down, and it was disgusting everywhere. There wasn’t even soap, shampoo, or any basic toiletries, so we had to buy our own just to shower. The flat was old, poorly decorated, and clearly not maintained. In the middle of the night, we found a used condom under the pillow. Absolutely revolting, and it says a lot about what this place might usually be used for. I posted real photos on Google to warn people. This place is a disgrace and should be taken off booking platforms. I’d never recommend it.

After seven hours of driving, we had to call six times before someone let us in, even though we’d messaged the host with our expected arrival time. The host didn’t answer the phone. We also didn’t get the apartment we’d reserved. They said “something happened to your apartment,” and gave us a view of a construction area instead of the sea. The host never told us about the change or sent an apology, and didn’t show up to meet us. A very unpleasant experience. We don’t recommend it and definitely won’t return.

My friend and I have never stayed anywhere worse. There was a dirty towel in the bathroom when we arrived. We pointed it out to the man who let us in, and that alone wasn’t a big deal, but the rest of the unit also hadn’t been properly cleaned. The toilet and sheets had stains and marks. We told George, who said a maid had come by, but when we got back at the end of the day, it was clear she hadn’t. We paid for parking, and George was supposed to give us a key card so we could come and go freely. He failed to do it several times, so we had to call him every time we needed garage access, and sometimes he didn’t answer. Blue Marlin feels like it’s run by a bunch of frat bros. Go elsewhere.
