Hotel Pozzo

I spent seven nights here with a group. It's a nice, clean hotel, close to the beach in Budva, with quick access to Becici or Mogren and plenty of shops nearby. The rooms were clean and spacious, and both breakfast and dinner were good and tasty.

The only lamps that worked were the ones on the nightstands. The two ceiling lights were out, leaving the room basically dark, and everything was dusty. I'm allergic to dust, so I had a blast. The TV didn't work either when I tried to put it on while waiting for dinner. In the bathroom, the shower was dirty, the room itself was dirty, and there was an opened, half-used shampoo bottle on the floor. The trash cans hadn't been emptied. At dinner, served self-service, the plates were dirty, greasy, or wet. The forks, spoons, and knives had tiny bits of food left on them from the previous customer. Dinner for our group of 40 was a 1/10, if I'm being kind. The soup was terrible and there wasn't enough for everyone. Then came a piece of chicken fried just enough to taste of charcoal, with lumpy and mushy mashed potato. Nothing was seasoned properly, and there wasn't enough food for everyone again. The portions were kid-sized for those who got a plate at all. People had paid for a service they didn't receive, and left tired and hungry. One woman had said she was vegetarian, but they made her a salad with canned tuna. One person was served scraps other people had left, which she refused to eat. The receptionist was also a waiter, and apparently the big boss too. Instead of helping, he cursed at customers who told him they hadn't received their food and were hungry. He'd also left the terrace tables and chairs wet from the rain. When asked when it stopped raining, he said “11:00,” though it was already 16:30. He stood doing nothing for 30 minutes before wiping the tables. Everything was so awful that the next evening the owner had every guest taken by taxi, at his expense, to his restaurant, where we were served properly, with normal food and great service. He apologized for everything, but should rethink who works at his hotel and how this poor excuse for a “4-star hotel” affects his businesses. Absolute nightmare. To the receptionist, find a new job, buddy, and stop draining the life out of everyone around you with your inappropriate, incompetent behavior. Budva has a lot to offer visitors, but this hotel should be avoided.

The staff at Hotel Pozzo made a real difference. The managers were welcoming, spoke English well, and stayed patient when we ran into payment trouble with both Booking and our card. One even offered to make Turkish coffee at breakfast, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast itself was varied and tasty, and the tourist tax was handled smoothly. We also found the practical side of the stay easy: fast, dependable Wi-Fi and daily service that kept towels and essentials fresh. The hotel sits between Budva center and Becici, with beaches just a short walk away and a shop and grocery store close by. It was quiet around the hotel, too. We had a memorable stay, and the place exceeded what we expected.

The receptionist was really nice, but the rest was disappointing. My room was clean and looked good, though the hair dryer didn’t work and nobody helped me with it. Breakfast wasn’t good, and there were no drinks available at the bar. I wouldn’t call this a four-star hotel.
