Millennium by Aycon Hotel

The staff were the real standout: friendly, professional, quick, and so polite. I was amazed by them. The ladies were lovely and courteous, and the gentlemen were real chevaliers. The hotel itself is fantastic, with a very clean pool, an amazing gastro bar, and food that was truly delicious. If you’re in Budva, you have to visit.

This was my third summer holiday in a row at this amazing hotel, and I loved every bit of it. The rooms, food at the Gastro Bar, pool, sauna, and Turkish bathroom are all luxurious or delicious or lovely, but the thing I really want to call out is the staff. The two brothers are the most professional hotel staff I’ve ever met, while still being very friendly. Every time I talk with them, they make my day. There’s also a young blonde woman who works incredibly hard, is polite, and always has a smile. The other reception team members and the cleaning staff are great too. Everything is top level!

The location was the one good part of our stay. We booked a standard room, but were placed in the hotel annex, which wasn’t shown in the booking photos. We paid another 50 euros to get a regular room. At check-in, the bathroom sink was blocked. We told reception, but it took three days for someone to come and fix it. Cleanliness was maybe a 5 out of 10. The floor hadn’t been washed properly, and towels were missing or the wrong size. Some days we got small ones instead of large ones, and once got none at all. We also received one pair of slippers instead of two. At the restaurant, the food hardly changed over five days, mostly chicken and fish, and the fish was inedible. The sweets seemed straight from a supermarket, just cookies and cake. The waiters chatted among themselves and rarely greeted guests. One of them coughed every day, which was unpleasant. On one evening, a road closure delayed us by an hour and a half, so we emailed and texted asking them to keep dinner for us. We arrived 15 minutes late, but reception said they knew nothing about it. It seemed to us that there might not be a cook there, and that the food was ordered in and heated. Everything apart from the location was terrible. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy your vacation.

The room was dirty, and basic cleaning didn’t seem to matter here. Twice we came back at night and found no towels in the room. The dining room also felt neglected, with nobody bothering to clear the tables. It was a horrible stay from start to finish. I can’t understand how this is rated as a four-star hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
