Oaza

Hotel Oaza in Budva felt like a warm, personal, family-run place, and I’d highly recommend it. My room was comfortable, with a private balcony looking out over the mountains. It was lovely for coffee in the morning or unwinding in the evening. The staff were helpful and arranged a taxi for my early departure to Tivat Airport. With the current road works, allow at least an hour for the trip. There was a departure gate queue at the airport, though it moved reasonably quickly. Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and costs €8, a fair price. My only small complaint was that the bathroom shower was a bit small, though it worked fine. Hotel Oaza is a welcoming, good-value base for exploring Budva.

The location was the only thing we liked, close to the old town and the beach. Our first room looked furnished with things from the garbage, all damaged or too old. The mattress and pillows were lumpy, the air conditioning was a black hole, and the bathroom felt like a health hazard, with a horrible shower cabin, dirty toilet, and a stink that stayed even with the window open. We asked to move and got a slightly better, smaller room, but the bathroom was only 1.5 x 1.5 m. We kept banging our heads on the boiler when using the sink. The window shutters had to stay closed because people could see into the room from the hotel entrance, and strong hotel lights stayed on all night, making the room feel like a little cave. Breakfast was okay, but the coffee tasted very bad. I can’t recommend this place.

It’s a fantastic family-run hotel close to the old town, with everything you need in the room, parking, and a superb breakfast. What made it special was the family running it. They were so friendly and helpful, and we loved chatting with them. Hvala, Peter and Geraldine.

Maria and her father gave the three of us such a warm welcome when we arrived, and even offered us a drink on the house. I’ve never felt so welcome at a hotel, or in any country, in all my time traveling. Maria is a credit to her father and the hotel, and we’re very grateful they had us. The location is perfect for getting around Budvar, the hotel’s style and layout are unique, the rooms are lovely, and so is breakfast. Thanks again for the outstanding hospitality.
