Budva has stayed with me for decades. When I was a child, I spent summer holidays there with my parents, back when it was just a regular residential area. After the strong earthquake in 1979, it was restored and turned into a real tourist attraction. The city is first mentioned in the 5th century BC by Sophocles. Pseudo-Xylax wrote that reaching Durres took a day and a night by sea, or three days overland. Later, Budva became known for its rich Greek finds, from a time when Aegean influence was stronger.
