Sun Village Apartments

The rooftop pool and restaurant are the best parts of Sun Village. The pool is small, around 12-15 m, but enough for a swim. The chlorine was strong enough to sting my eyes underwater. Restaurant prices were reasonable, and they could bring food to the pool or our room. Beer came in ordinary glasses instead of mugs, which was a little odd. The kind staff member who helped at breakfast also made the restaurant feel welcoming. We stayed eight days in a two-bedroom apartment for six people. The complex is gated, with several buildings and different apartment types. It’s in a good spot, with a small shop five minutes away and a larger IDEA supermarket about a 10-minute walk away. WiFi was fast and stable around the complex. The apartment had plenty of space, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The kitchen had a big fridge, stove, dishwasher, cookware, and utensils. The living area looked modern and had Android TV, but the WiFi settings reset several times a day, so we had to reconnect manually. Both air conditioners worked very well. The large balcony had furniture and a drying rack, which was great on hot, sunny days. The living and kitchen areas felt fresh, while the bedrooms and bathrooms seemed worn. One toilet clogged often, its lid came off, and the shower had no proper holder. Water collected on the floor after showers, the bathroom lights were dim, and one bathroom had no mirror shelf. There was a washing machine in one bathroom, free to use despite some earlier confusion. The kettle was cracked and unusable. Check-in was at 2 PM, but we arrived earlier after illness had delayed our trip. We’d hoped for a partial refund, but our rate was non-refundable. Even though we’d paid in full, we were told the apartment wasn’t ready, then eventually allowed in. Reception kept our passports for 30 minutes, which felt a bit odd. Towels and garbage were dealt with every three days, but nobody cleaned during our stay. Linen wasn’t changed as promised, first after five days and then after seven. Staff came in wearing outdoor shoes. When we asked about cleaning, reception told us to contact the house manager. Nobody came, even after two days. Breakfast was tasty but repetitive. There was fruit, pastries, cold cuts, juice, sandwich ingredients, and almond milk. Nothing was labelled, which could be a problem for people with allergies. Staff spoke limited English but tried to help and showed us product packaging. Special thanks to the older brunette woman who was kind and helpful. With better maintenance and service, this place could be much better. Cleaning was lacking, reported issues went unresolved, and parts of the apartment felt worn out.

The flats are spacious and the pool is nice, but our departure day was a really bad experience. A receptionist suddenly told us we had to leave at 10, though our pickup wasn’t until 3 PM. Nobody had told us beforehand. We had a baby who needed another nap before we left, and without the room and cot that wasn’t possible. The woman’s snotty tone made it worse. In the end we paid 40 euros for another room so our baby could sleep. Clear communication from Sunvillage could have avoided a frustrating situation for everyone. Instead, we were blamed with “We informed you,” which clearly hadn’t happened. I have to take stars off for that. The flats themselves are a nice place to holiday in Djenovici.

We loved having two balconies in our apartment, and the kitchen was fully equipped with new appliances in great condition. The rooms had air conditioning, and the bathroom was roomy. The apartments were clean and spacious, with plenty of parking. There are lots of plants around the buildings. The pool is a good size, with a jacuzzi, a water wall or something similar, and enough shade on sunny days. There are tables by the pool for food and drinks, plus an unusual shower outside that looks like a door frame and is pretty amusing. The food was very good, and restaurant prices for meals and drinks were affordable. Breakfast had a lot to choose from and was very good. The staff were friendly, approachable, always smiling, and happy to answer questions. The beach and seaside are close, nice for an evening walk, and Portonovi is a five-minute walk away. A great place to relax, and one we’d like to come back to.

It’s a quiet area, a nice base whether you want to relax or explore. The apartment was spacious, clean, and lovely, with good self-catering facilities. The hosts were happy to do whatever they could to make our stay comfortable. There’s a pool and restaurant, as well as plenty of beaches to discover. We also enjoyed visiting the lovely local old town, and the clear sea and fantastic views. We’ll come back at some point.
