Mali Hotel PANA

The room was run down, with a creaky bed, tiny toilet, no soundproofing, poor towels, and no proper sun blackout. Nobody cleaned it for three days, and I only got fresh towels on day three. Breakfast was meager, basically instant coffee, scrambled eggs, and a slice of bread. There wasn't really a beach, just crumbling plastic tables and chairs by the sea. The setup looked so shabby I didn't want to touch things, and lying out meant using the asphalt. For €110 a day, this felt like a starless B&B, not a three-star hotel. If you want to live in a barn, this is the place. It's just horror and deception, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The owner, Mister Pana, only works with Booking.com, according to my experience. He speaks no language besides Serbian and wouldn't listen to our side. It felt like the whole business was about getting money: pay or leave. After an 18-hour drive, we'd reserved and paid through hotels.com. At reception we were told they didn't work with hotels.com, had no record of us, and had no rooms left. They said we should seek our money back ourselves and that it wasn't their concern. The hotel representatives also refused to speak with hotels.com when its staff tried to sort things out. After two hours of discussion, guests were being asked to translate the Serbian conversation into English. They eventually found us a room, but said we'd have to pay again or leave. I've never experienced anything like it. I then spent an hour on the phone with hotels.com and cancelled the reservation. I came away with the strong impression that the owner was cheating us to get paid. Mister Pana also couldn't copy the correct surnames, names, or passport document numbers onto the registration papers for the border crossing. He shouldn't be in this business, in my view, since he lacks computer skills and an understanding of the processes, which is causing serious problems. If he calls guests inexperienced and corrupt, he should first look in the mirror. After the charges are brought forward, I'll go to court.
