Villa Miramare Apartment Rosa, Kotor

A lovely villa.

We wanted a comfortable, pleasant stay, but the property was in poor condition. At 120 euros a night in early May, it didn’t seem competitive with brand-new two-bedroom apartments in Dobrota that were available for under 100 euros a night, also with stunning views. We were charged for a three-bedroom unit, but the cigarette smoke left in the room was so strong, despite the property claiming to be non-smoking, that we couldn’t even enter it. The unit’s only bathroom had a constant, severe sewage smell. The AC in our bedroom wouldn’t turn on the first night, then wouldn’t turn off the next night. There were no mosquito nets. The terrace has a stunning view, which is what persuaded us to book this so-called villa, and the cleaning staff did a fine job. The kitchen was well equipped. The owner himself was friendly and sympathetic, but seemed powerless against the manager. After our first bad night, the manager said the next morning that he had fixed the problems. In fact, he had brought air fresheners to cover the smell. He stood in the foul-smelling bathroom and told me it “smelled beautiful.” We were also told on arrival that they don’t accept credit cards, which hadn’t been mentioned online. We came for a restful vacation and instead had discomfort and stress in an overpriced old house. I seldom write a negative review, but I wish I’d found an honest one like this before booking.

The apartments have everything you need and are very well equipped. Their terrace is a lovely place to sit and relax together. The whole family who owns the property is exceptionally helpful and super friendly. We’ve already stayed here twice and will definitely return. It’s the most beautiful, cozy swimming spot in the Bay of Kotor (Dobrota), with its own private dock and loungers, so you can take a leisurely dip at any time of day.
