Lunch here was the best restaurant experience of our week in Montenegro. The food was carefully thought out and very well prepared, and the service was friendlier and better than elsewhere, though the prices are above average. We stopped in after a few hours at Forte Rose Beach. The setting is picturesque, and we were welcomed professionally and warmly, then quickly seated at a table for four. Waiting in the shade beneath the big tree and admiring the view was something special. An absolute pleasure, highly recommended.

We were looking for breakfast and wandered around the service area. The waiter started watching our every move, then yelled, “PRIVATE! PRIVATE!” Put up a sign next time so people don't wander into your private restaurant by accident!

We tried twice to eat at the charmingly located Forte Rose Hotel while staying in Rose and hoping to sample the local cuisine. Both times, staff asked us to leave. The restaurant was almost empty, with just one table occupied, and we were told we couldn't order because we weren't hotel guests. Yet two local supermarket saleswomen, who also weren't guests, were sitting at that table. Seafood and fish are displayed on ice in cases. I wonder what happens to it when the hotel is nearly empty and hardly anyone uses the restaurant. We've never experienced a hotel restaurant elsewhere that was so uninterested in outside diners. Perhaps the hotel has other secrets we were fortunate not to discover. In Rose, we highly recommend the Adriatic restaurant for its charming surroundings and delicious food.

Forte Rose is a beautifully decorated fortress with lovely beaches and views. But the service, some employees' behavior, and the way guests are treated have nothing in common with the tourist offer itself. Would I vacation in the same place again? No. Would I recommend it to anyone? No.

Bojan made our visit memorable. He showed us around, shared fascinating stories about the history of the place, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He was kind, friendly, and professional. We had come to explore Forte Rose and have lunch, and loved its charming, historic setting and relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. After such a lovely experience, we've already decided to stay at Forte Rose on our next trip to Montenegro. Highly recommended!
