Petrovac itself felt small, quiet, and peaceful in the mountains, and the apartment's location was convenient, near the mountain with a view of the sea from above. The clean streets and paths and nearby bus station made getting around easy. We stayed on the first floor and had our own table on the terrace. The stone house was beautiful and elegant. Inside, the apartment was thoughtfully laid out and newly renovated, with a big comfortable bed, a large new wardrobe, a new fridge, air conditioning, and all the dishes needed to cook or make coffee. The bathroom had a boiler and good ventilation, so it stayed dry and comfortable. Towels and bedding were changed often, and extra items were provided. Nevena was lovely and efficient, and took care of all our requests. She felt like a fairy to us. We were allowed to check in early and leave late without extra charges, and she washed our personal belongings. There was even prosciutto and cheese left in the room as a welcome gift, which was such a nice surprise.

The hygiene was at a high level, but the rest of our stay was far from what guests should be able to expect. For the first eight days, my boyfriend and I thought everything was fine. After that, the owner's lack of professionalism and basic courtesy left us with a much worse final impression. Privacy was a major problem. Nevena, the landlady who had seemed very nice at first, went into the apartment every day while we were out. I found that rude, and don't believe she was going in to change linens or bring towels. She could have checked everything while we were there. She left notes on the kitchen table accusing us of damaging the worktop, even though it was already in that condition when we arrived, and tried to say we had caused it because we were young and easy to fool. She also hinted we shouldn't run the air conditioner constantly because the room cooled quickly, as if we were using too much electricity. That was unreasonable when we paid 68 euros a night. She switched off our water heater whenever we left, so we'd come back to ice-cold water. Our towels, which we'd left drying on the terrace, were wet each morning because the terrace had been washed without anyone taking care of our things. Those are only some of our complaints, but they were enough to make the stay unpleasant. The booking listing says the beach is 400 m away, which isn't true. It took at least 700-800m, or about 10 minutes, to get there, too far in our view for 68 euros a night. There are many better apartments by the beach for much less. Ask around and don't rush into booking like we did. I wouldn't recommend these apartments to anyone. For what we paid, we expected at least basic hospitality and didn't get it. I'm writing this out of respect for future guests.
