Riva by Aycon Hotel

Lunch was a poor experience, both the food and the service. We complained about the food, but the waiter argued with us and insisted we pay the service charge despite the bad service. He said he couldn’t do anything and told us to wait for a manager, who wouldn’t be available until 6 pm. We’d only come in for lunch. Do better. Avoid.

It’s a nice hotel in general, but it’s quite expensive at around €300 a night for this kind of place, and the 9.7 Booking.com score is definitely exaggerated. There’s no coffee in the rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, consider that rooms facing the supermarket loading area at the entrance side get noise from about 3 am.

We had dinner at Hotel Riva in Petrovac and were very happy with it. The service was excellent, and our waiter Lazar was kind, professional, and attentive all evening. Prices felt very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. We ordered pizza and shrimp spaghetti. Both were very good, but the spaghetti was especially delicious, with incredibly tender, fresh, high-quality shrimp cooked perfectly. We’ll definitely return and recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Petrovac.

The food was good, but the bill included €1.30 for “setting the table” and €2.23 for service. I don’t mind paying for service, even though I had to take the menu and call the waiter myself, but these charges should be mentioned on the menu. They made the experience really upsetting.
