MonteBay Perla

My girlfriend and I stayed here in 2024, two years ago. We loved the place and would recommend it to anyone planning to visit Kotor. The lake and surrounding mountains made for a scenic view, and the service was top notch. Everyone was very kind and helpful.

The room was fresh when we arrived, with the towels folded neatly, and the receptionists were super lovely. They chatted with us throughout our stay. Cleanliness and professionalism were very good. Food quality depends on what you order, but I'd recommend the salads, grilled meats and burgers. Breakfast was continental, which isn't really my taste, though there were pastries, juice and cereals.

Dinner was good quality, but the choice of starters and main courses was ridiculous. The bigger disappointment was the service, which felt nonexistent. I asked the waiter for a drink several times and was ignored, so eventually I had to get up and fetch one myself from the outside bar. Apparently, serving guests wasn't part of his job. Great efficiency. The rooms were clean but average, nothing memorable. The location is lovely, on the edge of the fjord and a few kilometers from the city center.

Breakfast was poor, with limited choice. Even though we arrived within ten minutes of the breakfast room opening, much of the food was gone. The coffee machines rarely worked, and the food clearly wasn't fresh. The receptionists were also fairly rude during our stay. Our room wasn't clean when we arrived. There were dirty towels and clumps of hair all over the room. We also weren't told at check-in that the water heater had to be switched on using an ambiguous switch outside the restroom. When we complained about having no hot water, the receptionists laughed as if we should have known. The instruction was in the room's food menu, but it wasn't clear, and nobody had mentioned this key detail when we arrived. The poor cleanliness, food quality and professionalism made for a disappointing stay. I would NOT recommend staying at MonteBay Perla.
