Apartments Pelle

I liked the polite, friendly way guests were treated, the apartment’s cleanliness and order, the plentiful clean towels and linens, the air conditioning, fast internet, and clothes dryer. But I felt deceived. I stayed for 10 days and compared the listing with the actual distances. The distances were understated, and the features seemed fancifully described to encourage bookings. For example, Kalardovo Beach was listed as 1.8 km away, but Google Maps showed 3.2 km; Kotor Beach was listed at 3.4 km, but Maps showed 9.9 km; St. Tryphon Cathedral was listed at 3.5 km, but Maps showed 9 km; and Lovcen National Park was listed at 9.7 km, while Maps showed 26 km. I spent an extra 300 euros on taxis, cars, and scooters, and couldn’t have managed without them. The listing also said the beach was a 10-minute walk, but Google Maps gave 24 minutes one way, in 27-34 degree heat with a child. It described the one-bedroom apartment as having a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and dining room. Apart from the bedroom, there was just one room, which the owner called the kitchen, living room, and dining room. There was one small table and three chairs. Depending on what you called that room, the table was apparently supposed to serve as a dining table, a desk, or a food-preparation table. There were ants all over a sandwich I’d left on the kitchen table overnight. The mugs in the cupboard all had old tea stains where the handles meet the cups. I brought my laptop to write, but there was no desk and nowhere to use it. The so-called terrace was an extended landing between stair flights, with no privacy when other tenants passed by. The seat and table attached to the side made it uncomfortable to eat unless you twisted sideways, so we ate on the stairs. The partition on the shared balcony was broken. They said it would be fixed, but it never was. There was no hot water in the shower for a week.

The setting is stunning, and the hosts are so warm and kind. We were happy with everything and would definitely come back :)

There's plenty of room in the apartments and lots of parking. The hosts are warm and quick to help, and the airport is conveniently close. We also got to try fruit straight from the private orchard, tangerines, figs, pomegranates, and persimmons!

A lovely, welcoming spot, especially if you're travelling with kids.
