I’ve been coming back for several years, so this is an honest recommendation. Villa Dušan sits in a wonderful spot, and the hosts are warm and kind-hearted. The view of Bar and the open sea is magical, with sky and water seeming to meet. Even the air feels pure here. That’s my own experience as someone who loves and appreciates the good things around us.

The accommodation is modest, but the quiet and the sea view make for a proper rest. The hosts are friendly and welcome you with coffee and brandy. It’s in Zagradje, 2-3 km from Sutomore, up a zigzagging 1000 m climb through narrow streets.

Maljevik Bay is my favorite bay on the Montenegrin coast. The beach is clean, warmer than others, and has plenty of fish, shells, and sea urchins. There’s a cafe where you can get coffee, a drink, or a meal. It suits small children as well as people who like jumping off the rocks. You can reach it by walking about 400 m through a pine forest, or take the asphalt road for around 900 m. The apartments are neat and pleasant, with a lovely sea view, and the hospitable hosts are always ready to help or work things out with you.
