Le Domaine Anse Marcel Beach Resort

We loved our stay and plan to return. The room was comfortable and had what we needed, and the location was excellent. There were beach chairs and food service by the beach, and the staff were so friendly. We had a rental car, but it seemed possible to manage without one since the resort is full service and there are a few places to eat nearby.

It’s a beautiful location, but they lost my reservation. When I raised an issue, the beach boy told me there were over a thousand other beaches on the island and I could go to one of those if I didn’t like it.

All the staff were very kind and helpful, and I had four peaceful days there. My room was spacious, with a balcony I really enjoyed. The beach wasn’t crowded, and the food at both restaurants was delicious. The place is somewhat remote. Getting there means driving over a mountain on a fairly narrow, winding road, so renting a car is probably more practical if you want to explore other parts of the island.

We barely needed to leave the resort. The beach was calm and quiet each day, with beautiful views, and the marina shops and restaurants were less than a five-minute walk away. We also enjoyed the small store and the three restaurants there. La Cucina had great Mahi Mahi and pizza. At the resort, Le Gourmet was fabulous. It isn’t cheap, but we ate there twice and those were the best meals I’ve ever had, including the Beef Tenderloin Angus, glazed vegetables, potato churros, truffle, and a cookie with chocolate and ice cream for dessert. You must try at least one meal there. The open-air beach restaurant served a great buffet breakfast with wonderful views, plus lunch in two sittings. Daily beach chairs were included with a reservation. We chose a studio with a garden view since we only planned to sleep and shower in the room. It was spacious, with a newly remodeled large shower, a very comfortable bed, kitchenette, and small refrigerator. Check-in was quick and easy. Stephanie showed us around, explained everything, and got us settled. She and the rest of the staff were fabulous. Everyone, from the waiters and beach waiters to the cleaning staff, went out of their way to make our stay relaxing, with a smile and a great attitude. We rented a car at the airport, but next time we won’t. After seeing the beautiful cove from the top of the hill, we knew we’d found the quiet, comfortable resort we wanted. We only went to Phillipsburg one day to shop, and a taxi would have cost $50. Since the resort offers airport transportation, we could have saved $350 by not renting a car. We’ve always rented cars before, but this was the first trip where we didn’t want to leave the resort. Check-out took about three minutes, and all the charges were correct. We slept, ate, walked, sat on the beach, wandered around the marina and shops, and relaxed. It was the most peaceful, beautiful resort I’ve stayed at.
