Never Ending

The pool was gorgeous, well cared for, and had plenty of room to relax. Views around it add to the peaceful resort feel. The property itself is modern, beautifully designed, and immaculately maintained, with spacious, stylish, comfortable rooms and residences that work well for short or longer stays. Thoughtful details made us feel at ease. The staff were attentive, professional, and warm, and the owners were especially kind and welcoming. Their personal touch made us feel valued. The setting is quiet and private while still close to beaches, restaurants, and major attractions. Hommage Hotel & Residences was a great mix of comfort, luxury, and convenience. We’d absolutely return, and recommend it for couples, families, or anyone wanting a relaxing stay in St. Maarten.

The hotel is on the French side of the island, in a safe area, and it’s gated. Check-in was super easy, and our good-sized room was cleaned every day. We had a balcony leading to the beach and restaurant, and there are paintings all over the walls since it’s an art hotel. It’s a super cute place to stay. The pizza shop next door was AMAZING, and down the road at a supermarket there’s a guy with a Rude Boy logo who grills chicken, ribs, and Johnny Cakes Thursday through Sunday. We ate there sometimes twice a day.

Housekeeping and the cleaning staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming, and the hotel itself was great. But the front desk experience overshadowed the stay. We arrived around 3 PM, knowing check-in officially started at 4. The young woman at reception said our room would take about 30 minutes, but we waited nearly four hours and didn’t get the keys until 7 PM. We got no updates unless we went back to the desk, and had to go there three times before anyone paid attention and handed over the keys. It ruined our day, especially given what we paid. It also seemed like pilots were being accommodated ahead of paying hotel guests. The compensation offered for the wait was one free drink at the restaurant, which felt inadequate. After such a delay, dinner should at least have been comped. Management needs to address the front desk service so it reflects the quality of the rest of the hotel.

We were stranded in St. Martin after Sun Country Airlines canceled our flight without explanation, and only needed a basic room for two for the night. The best option we found was this hotel, but they offered only a large family room facing the parking lot for $500 USD. We politely asked whether a smaller room might be available since we didn’t need space for six, but the receptionist wouldn’t consider another option or try to help. There was no empathy for our situation. We were told that the $500 parking-lot room was the only choice. Completely unreasonable and disappointing. The reception service showed very little care or professionalism, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel based on our experience.
