The rooms and beds were comfortable, and I liked the soaps and fragrant shampoo. The hotel is central and has an excellent restaurant. Breakfast was very good, but drinking water wasn't provided there either, only sold. That was strange, as was seeing so many warning and fine notices around the hotel and in the room booklet. Not offering drinking water at all needs to be addressed urgently. A dispenser by reception surely wouldn't cost a fortune. I took a star off for this and hope the water situation is sorted by the time I come back. Still, it was a pleasant stay and I'd be happy to return.

The garden and pool make this a lovely place to relax, and the restaurant was great. My room was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Although it's right in the city, the hotel felt calm and peaceful, a good place to disconnect. Everything was well organized and went smoothly. I'd gladly recommend Sakamanga Hotel.

The staff are what make Sakamanga feel like home. Almost everyone speaks good English, and the others still find a way to give great service. On my third stay, during the unrest and demonstrations in September 2025, I was traveling alone and had to keep changing my plans. The team helped me feel safe and comfortable, renewed my room at the last minute because of my circumstances, and the housekeepers quietly adjusted their schedule so I could work remotely and attend meetings. I've now stayed there three times and recommend it for both accommodation and meals. The hotel has several kinds of rooms, from smaller budget options to larger ones with artistic decor. Walking around feels like visiting a museum of Malagasy history and an art exhibition. Breakfast is about 7 euros and worth the price, with local and international sweet and savory dishes, plus omelettes made to order. The pool garden is a relaxing place to eat breakfast. The in-house restaurant serves local and international food, as well as daily specials. The WiFi is quite good by Madagascar standards, with decent quality for WhatsApp video calls. Nearby you'll find a pharmacy next door, a bakery, supermarkets 10-12 minutes away on foot, an ATM, and taxis at the next corner.

The pool service was good, though the restaurant service could have been better. The deluxe room was truly deluxe, and we really enjoyed our stay. You get what you pay for here, and the atmosphere and beautiful antiques throughout the hotel make it easy to recommend.

The food and dinner service were stellar, even though the restaurant felt too warm and had very little air movement. Breakfast was more chaotic: it's usually a buffet around the pool, but morning rain meant it had to be moved inside. Service was good throughout, and especially quick and friendly for a late lunch by the pool. We had an air-conditioned suite with a full seating area, which was great for working on the computer without being bothered by bugs. But I made the mistake of not using the provided mosquito net because I thought keeping the room shut since early afternoon would be enough. I got more bites overnight than during the rest of our three weeks in the country. Demonstrations were happening nearby, but we couldn't hear them and didn't feel unsafe, tucked away from the street.
