The sunset view was gorgeous, and I enjoyed the Coconut welcome drink. The room was a different story: the floor was dirty, the shower had cracks, and the mosquito net was dusty. There was no hot water, and the taps were filthy. We booked four nights at what we thought would be a good hotel, but staying that long feels like a challenge. The staff seemed unable to fix the problems. Look for another place if you can.

We couldn’t sleep on our final night because a private party was held downstairs, and nobody had warned us about the noise. The pool was also closed for maintenance when we arrived, which we wish we’d known sooner. We came partly because having a pool mattered to us. On top of that, there was no hot water for bathing, and the Wi-Fi in our room didn’t work at all during our stay. We reported it to reception, but nothing was done. A very disappointing stay at Vanivola hotel. Avoid.

The owner’s response to our refund request was to shout at us, which was disrespectful. The buffet was very limited, and service took ages. The manager had said it would start at 7:00 PM, but it didn’t begin until 10:00 PM, with no notice or apology. The facilities also made for a poor stay: unstable electricity, an AC that barely worked, and inadequate water and sewage systems.

We couldn’t sleep unless we left every door and window open. The electricity kept fluctuating, the air conditioners didn’t work, and there wasn’t even a fan. My room had just been repainted and smelled awful. On top of that, the buffet only started at 10:00pm, with no advance notice.

The electricity and water service were really weak, and the air conditioner wasn’t good either. We waited a very long time for the food.
