Floraly Komba Hôtel

We loved staying here, especially because the host and his family, Xavier, are so welcoming!

The family bungalow was lovely, with two rooms right on the beach and those same views right from the room. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and arranged trips to other islands at fair prices. The sunrises and sunsets are picture perfect. It’s a 30 minute boat ride from Nosy Be, and well worth it.

+ The upstairs rooms with balconies are really nice, though the bathroom is downstairs. + Meals are okay, with a small selection. + Wifi works well. - Getting there and back is complicated and very expensive. - The direct booking system isn’t efficient. - After paying such a high total for the stay, having to pay cash only is frustrating.

For the room price, it’s hard to complain when nearby resorts and hotels cost three or four times as much. Still, there are some clear drawbacks. There’s no hot water ready to use. If you ask, they’ll bring some to your room at night in a tub, and you pour it over yourself with a cup. Food is expensive, and breakfast costs more than dinner despite being just bread and fruit. If you’re trying to save, eating in the local village could be a better option. They don’t accept any credit cards, so bring plenty of cash in local currency or euros. We had a decent stay at Floraly Komba, but not a great one. It ended a day early when the owner said our reservation only ran through that day. We’d booked one more night than he had written down, and were made to leave, which caused unnecessary stress. Check your reservation with the front desk when you arrive.
