Casa Germanoff

I usually choose private stays over hotels on vacation since my career keeps me in hotels, so I know when a place is good. Here, I loved greeting the sunrise from the balcony, and the whole stay was such a pleasure that I had to write a review, even though I never do. The location is right in the heart of the city, with the beach directly in front and restaurants and entertainment just a two minute walk away. Mornings come with a lake view and sunrise. The rooms were spotless, with crisp sheets and plenty of space. The piano room is amazing, with an old-fashioned feel and a touch of modern style. The owners are very professional, but also warm, kind, and welcoming. They do everything they can to make you comfortable, and it feels like they do it from the heart.

The apartment is in central Ohrid, behind the paper museum, and Nicholas was friendly and easygoing when I contacted him. One thing to know is that payment is cash, even if you book through Booking.com. Also, only two rooms have a lake view. I had room 101, the largest one, with the best view, like the photos. Everything else was okay.

The owner is a really nice young man and was available 24/7 if we needed anything. We could walk to all the best-known places in Ohrid, with a few good cafes and restaurants within 50 metres. Even with all that nearby, evenings were pretty quiet and relaxing. Our balcony had a stunning, unforgettable view of lake Ohrid. The room was clean, well kept, and had what we needed for a longer stay, including a fridge, glasses, cutlery, TV, and air con. Parking is just a few steps from the front door.

The room was roomy and well looked after, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The lake was right in front of us, and the centre was close by. I’d definitely recommend it.
