St. Varvara Apartments

The location is excellent, right by the amphitheater and close to the lake, with the pedestrian street of shops and bars about a 10-minute walk away. But the house was shockingly dirty. The first night, around midnight, we found a scorpion in the kitchen. After killing it and checking as well as we could near the upstairs bed, we went to sleep. The next day I asked the owner's parents to arrange a cleaning because I'm allergic and a sting could have sent me to the hospital. They brought us breakfast twice and let us use their washing machine, and they were genuinely kind, but they live upstairs from the apartment and weren't around during our stay. When we came back, nothing had been cleaned. We found two more scorpions and decided to do it ourselves. Spiders, cockroaches, and millipedes were coming from under the kitchen and from all over the house. I understand that a small garden can mean spiders, and that a scorpion might get in, but it was clear the place hadn't been cleaned in a long time. A few hours later, the two men said they'd sprayed disinfectant. We told them there were more scorpions, but they didn't react, and we cleaned the room ourselves anyway. I think the issue is with the people actually managing the rental, who seemed to have little respect for guests. A place should be cleaned between guests. I paid, and I expect it to be clean. I feel bad for the two older people, but they should have contacted their son and arranged for someone to come clean. I'd never had anything like this happen before, and I was truly shocked.

A lovely terrace and great internet, and the hosts were really friendly and proactive. The apartment was very comfortable too. Having a reasonably comfortable mattress and pillows matters a lot to me, and I hadn't found that to be the case in most places before.

The hosts are so welcoming, and the apartment is cozy and right in the old town center. It has retro-style furniture and excellent WiFi.

Right in the heart of the old town, these apartments are clean, spacious, and tidy. Just right for a family stay.
