Unique - Resort and SPA

The hotel has a spa area, though I expected an indoor pool from a hotel with “Spa” in its name and there isn't one. For that reason I wouldn't call it a luxury hotel. The rooms are very large and seem as if they may originally have been apartments. I liked having shower gel as well as a regular bar of soap in the bathroom.

The gym and spa are excellent, and the gym has modern equipment that's kept in good shape. Rooms are impressively spacious, maybe more than a solo traveler needs, and clean and comfortable throughout. Food was good, though it could do more to represent North Macedonia's varied culinary heritage. The hotel is near the lake, but construction directly in front is currently blocking part of the view.

The rooms are spacious and clean, but the service is very basic. Bottled water stops after the first night, used toiletries aren't replenished unless I ask, and there aren't any tissues. Having traveled to more than 80 countries, I'd put this toward the expensive end for a three-star hotel.

The pool was pretty cold, probably because the nights get chilly, while the spa was fine and open until 9 each evening. Two hours there is enough to enjoy it. The hotel itself is quiet, with large rooms and a roomy bathroom with a good shower. It's a 20-25 minute walk to the port, and we weren't disturbed by construction or concerts and events. Towels were replaced daily even though we hung them up to reuse them. There's plenty of choice at breakfast, though it was the same each day, and the coffee wasn't good. Staff were businesslike but helpful. We noticed the same manner in town's restaurants. People were helpful, and once you get chatting, they're definitely not unfriendly, even if their businesslike manner can come across that way at first. There are lots of restaurants and cocktail bars nearby if you don't want to eat or drink by the port. Orfej and Big Pi take cash only; most other restaurants accept debit and credit cards. Top Market is the closest larger supermarket, with a bank across from it. Avoid the red ATMs because their withdrawal fees are high. Green ATMs have no fee, while the blue ones charge 350 dn for a withdrawal of any amount. A little tip: take a sunset cruise with Armada boats on a clear afternoon or evening. It costs €10 and the city and sunset views are beautiful. There's a bar aboard where you can pay by card.
