Hotel New Star

The hotel is a long way from the center, with no market, restaurant, or shops nearby, which is a major drawback. New Star Hotel (Skopje) felt neglected and cold throughout. The rooms are big, but not well kept, and the breakfast was poor in both taste and selection. We had no issues ourselves, though we heard some rooms had no hot water, air conditioning, or working hair dryers. The place was dirty, including details in the rooms.

The bathroom flooded because the sink drain leaked, and the room wasn't clean enough. The hair dryer didn't work either. It was cold outside, they told me, so warming the room would take time. But after 10 hours the temperature had only risen by one degree, to a maximum of 20.5 degrees. They call this a five-star hotel, but it definitely isn't.

We held our wedding here, and everyone was happy with the food and the amazing service. Toni the manager was the best, very attentive and listened to all our requests. I'd recommend it 10 out of 10.

The long-haired man who introduced himself as the manager was rude to the Turkish female guests right in front of us, using an issue with the tea machine as an excuse. He treated us the same way over a corkscrew the woman at the bar had lent us. We didn't want that kind of tension on the last day of our holiday. Whether he's the manager or the owner, he should show paying guests more respect and hospitality. I won't recommend this hotel or stay again. We were only there one night, so we decided not to make a fuss about the room, even though it was big and the furniture was quite old. The toilet seat was up, the faucet was broken, the phone cable was damaged, and there was trash from previous guests on the balcony.
