Hotel United

The breakfast room on the top floor has a stunning city view, and renting bicycles is a great way to get around Mandalay’s spread-out attractions. We stayed at Hotel United for two nights and were very happy. Our room was a good size and very clean, with a big, comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and always keen to help.

There’s no coffee in the bedroom, and the water situation was uncomfortable. The bedroom fountain didn’t provide good water, while the cold water was very hot, which is bad in summer. The air conditioners have been used for a long time and their quality isn’t good anymore. Customers’ needs aren’t taken into account, leaving you a little uncomfortable. Still, during difficult times, electricity was available when needed, and there was parking. You can stay for 55k/60k if cleaning matters are taken care of.

I arrived in Mandalay after the earthquakes, and every hotel I’d booked online turned out to be closed. I had no money or time and was desperately looking for somewhere to stay that didn’t cost 100 USD. Luckily, this hotel took me in for one night at a reasonable price. The owner was warm-hearted and the staff were amazing. It was very clean, had ACs, and there were taxi drivers and food places close by, so it was really convenient. I can recommend sleeping here.

It’s a family-run hotel that still uses a paper ledger book. The location is great, the rooms are clean, and the price is reasonable. Breakfast is just okay. It’s a shame the hotel itself is so basic.
