Holly Hotel Myanmar

The location is especially handy for locals who regularly travel by highway bus, since the terminal is very close. I spent 7 days here for HQ and really enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was nice and acceptable, and my clean, spacious room felt comfortable, as did the atmosphere around it. I’d recommend the Holly Hotel to locals and foreigners looking for a hotel in this part of Yangon.

I paid over $430 AUD and expected a lot more. The hotel is far from the city, so tourists could end up spending a lot on transportation. I booked 9 days but left after only 3, and there was no refund for the unused days. My room was 406, and the smell hit me as soon as I walked in. The cardboard top concerns were mould and some broken stuff, and the bedsheet smelled a lot too. The bathroom smelled awful and still wasn’t cleaned properly after I asked them to clean it again on the second day. The next morning, I found a hair in the noodle soup at breakfast. The welcome drink was just very sugary, not wine or champagne. I also saw staff yelling at each other in front of guests, which felt completely unprofessional. There were lots of disappointments in just 3 days, and I couldn’t stay any longer. The hotel needs a lot of improvement.

For business travel, this is a decent option in that price range, but the busy business area doesn’t make it a good spot for resting. The rooms are comfortable for what they cost. Food was average, and service just acceptable. Overall, a nice enough hotel at that price.

They kindly opened breakfast half an hour earlier than usual for us, and the staff were extremely nice. It was only a short stay, but definitely one of our best hotel experiences in Myanmar. A great way to begin our trip around this beautiful country!
