Lotus Boutique House

We'd enjoyed our stay until one night, when we came back from a quick outing after being gone only ten minutes. An employee was leaving our room in a hurry, wouldn't make eye contact, and didn't address us. We found him rummaging through the backpack we normally keep locked, where we had money. He'd quickly repacked it, but it had clearly been disturbed. We believe he took money, although we can't say exactly how much since we don't keep strict accounts. We confronted him right away, and he denied it, saying he was checking a noisy fan. We hadn't heard any such noise. We told him not to enter our room again and that we'd speak with the manager. He called the manager that night, and we explained what had happened. In the morning we left, asking only for a refund for the next day because we couldn't stay. The manager said the employee was being let go and asked us to stay our last night, but we no longer felt our belongings were safe. After making a phone call, he refunded the night we wouldn't use. We were certain the employee had gone into our room for no reason other than to steal: our things had been rummaged through, and he was hurrying out as we arrived. We've been traveling for eight months, and I rely on reviews to choose where to stay. Travelers have few ways to warn each other about experiences like this, so I felt it mattered to share what we believe was an employee theft. Maybe he's been fired, but I wouldn't take the chance when there are other places to stay.

The staff are really friendly, the rooms are decent, and the location works well.

The staff were nice, though the hotel itself feels aged.

There was plenty of room in the apartment.
