Gloria at the front desk was especially helpful when we couldn't speak the local language, and the restaurant staff were caring too. One tall gentleman looked after us through all our meals, though I regret not getting his name. The breakfast selection was generous and tasty, and the staff overall were warm and attentive. The hotel has huge interiors and lovely decorations. We did notice a few small issues in the bathroom, and the room lighting could be brighter. We'd come back.

The fried rice I ordered on the ground floor was cold and tasted terrible, and one serving cost enough for two at a good restaurant. For a prestigious hotel, I expected the food to at least taste okay. I was impressed by the building, though. From outside, the palace standing in the middle of the garden looked marvelous and imposing, and the red carpet at the entrance made me feel like royalty. Inside, I noticed all the carefully done details, and it was the most beautiful hotel I've seen. There were lots of facilities and restaurants. I was mostly satisfied with the building and service apart from the meal. I hope to return for another English exam, but I won't try the food again.

The meals were so good, and I was very happy with what I ate there. The hotel is close to downtown, which is handy for people visiting Yangon on vacation. It's quiet, with a long, relaxing corridor and simple decor that looks good. The front needs repainting or renovation, though, as there are yellow and rust-colored blotches. I'd give it 8/10.

The room felt a bit small, and there wasn't any welcome juice. We didn't really experience any service, and the place felt like a Cambridge exam center. Three stars overall.

The breakfast was just so-so, with limited variety, though the jams and yogurts were delicious. The omelette station made tasty omelettes, and the coffee was very good. The room was about 50 US dollars in May of 2023, good value, and I slept well during my three nights. My room had nice linens, a great mattress, comfortable traditional furniture, and attractive decor. The bathroom looked brand-new, with a high-end rain shower, good plumbing, and five-star tilework and fittings. Water pressure stayed strong and the temperature was steady. The whole hotel is beautifully furnished, with plush seating, thick carpeting, and expensive-looking fittings. The mostly young staff were kind, polite, well-trained, and keen to help, which was refreshing. There were very few guests, so the hotel felt empty when I checked in. It's low season and very hot, and tourists are also absent because of Myanmar's political situation. The coup has brought serious instability and fighting across the country, although Rangoon itself seemed free of violence. Only The Veranda bar restaurant was open for drinks and meals, and I saw just one other guest there. The ATM was out of order, some former services are unavailable because there aren't enough guests, and apparently some floors are sealed off. Hotel staff confirmed that the surrounding district didn't seem safe to walk in at night. Many of those downsides are tied to the country's circumstances, which makes me feel bad to mention them. You'll need to download grab to get a taxi, since public transit isn't readily available. I really like the hotel, but next time I'll probably stay somewhere better for walking to cafes, shops, and nightlife.
