Sky Man Hotel

The location is good, the room was large, and breakfast was okay. But five nights at Skyman felt like five years. The walkway was very dirty, the room wasn't cleaned, and they said they only had one key and couldn't open it. There were mosquitoes every night and the hotel did nothing, not even spraying. We booked a suite but were put in a three-bed room and charged the suite rate. At check-in the receptionist didn't smile, and the management was poor. The general manager never came to speak with us. She stayed behind the staff and left through the back door instead of facing guests. Keep away from this hotel.

In the area, Ocean (North Point) is a small shopping mall, and more modern shops are starting to open. The hotel is also near Insein township, where many Christian missions are based, and not far from the airport. A Chinese restaurant about a five-minute walk down a side lane serves authentic southern Chinese food, Fujian/Hokkien style, at very reasonable prices. The hotel itself has improved noticeably since the mosquito-filled room my wife and I stayed in years ago. On our recent visit the bedsheets were clean and we didn't have mosquitoes, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Dear Anna and staff, thanks for the humility and availability you show your guests. You went out of your way to make the stay pleasant, helping with phones, taxis, and whatever else you could. Keep doing the good work, and you'll reap what you sow.

The staff were kind and tried to help, which was the good part of the stay. The facilities are quite old and need renovation, and there were some smells. The bathrooms weren't very clean, and on rainy days water even dripped from the ceiling.
