Wyne Hotel

There’s a shopping area with groceries and restaurants a short walk down the alley beside the hotel. The main lifts, though, were out of order much of the time, so thankfully we could use a service elevator. The small fridge was no use to us since it switched off whenever we left the room. Laundry was also very expensive compared with other Asian hotels, and overall I thought the hotel was overpriced.

For the lowest-priced room, the space and bed were comfortable, and at 60,000 kyats a night it came with cool air conditioning, hot water, and electricity around the clock. The elevator and room both use key cards, and there’s a large parking area. I liked that the lights are on the walls and bedside tables instead of the ceiling, so they don’t glare when you’re lying down, though the room could be brighter. It’s a good spot near the 8 mile intersection, Junction 8, and restaurants, but I wish it had a swimming pool and rooftop bar.

We had a family suite with a double bedroom connected to a room with two single beds, plus a good amount of space in the living area. The room was great and clean, and the staff were helpful.

Breakfast was simple but fine, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The mattresses were comfortable and the linens good quality. Wyne Hotel had only opened nine months earlier, so it’s quite new. Getting in by vehicle can be tricky for mini buses because the entrance is small and steep. The elevators also aren’t linked as a pair, so sometimes you wait longer.
