The pool team deserve a special mention. They're attentive, friendly, and always glad to help, and the pool area is a lovely place to unwind. I also really liked the bissap drink, one of the most enjoyable I've had in Mauritania and a nice local touch. The buffet is excellent and the executive lounge is a real strength. The Sheraton Nouakchott is new, but the people are already what make it stand out. Mauritania has great hospitality talent, and they've clearly brought together a strong crew, including people who've worked at some of Nouakchott's best local cafés, such as Paul. Service feels warm, professional, and genuine. The facilities are strong too, and this is already one of my best hotel experiences in Nouakchott. A genuine A grade team, with room to get even better.

I didn't stay here as a lodging guest, but my impression has been very positive so far, especially compared with other hotels in the area. The hotel is still quite new. Both the regular buffet and the Sunday brunch buffet were excellent. Ask the price per person before you settle in, though. The lobby bar has a limited choice of drinks and food, and sometimes menu items aren't available because ingredients are missing. Near the pool, the park area is lovely and there's a play area for children. The staff are kind and do their best to make people feel welcome and satisfied.
