SU29 Hotel Valletta

The AC was dripping onto the floor, making noise and leaving puddles. We told the staff, who were attentive, service minded, and did their best to make us comfortable. The room itself was clean and colourful, with a great bed and good facilities. Breakfast was good, and the staff were wonderful and knowledgeable about Malta, so ask them for suggestions. The hotel sits in the heart of Valletta, within walking distance of major attractions, shopping streets, restaurants, museums, nightlife, and bus and ferry connections. There isn’t a car entrance on the road, but it’s just about a 20-second walk down some stairs from the accessible road. I’d consider staying here again on our next Malta visit.

There are quite a lot of stairs up to the front door, so be prepared, though staff helped with our luggage. Breakfast was included and nice, and the staff were always helpful. Everything about this small hotel was lovely. Thank you.

The air conditioning in the rooms is limited to 23 degrees and shuts off when you leave the room. Downstairs in reception it was a lovely temperature, but the rooms were not. During the recent heat wave it took several hours to cool ours enough to sleep. The only workaround was to leave a key in the room so the AC could run all day, which defeats the point of limiting it. It’s a shame, because the hotel is nice, the location is great, and both breakfast and staff were lovely.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and I’d almost raise my rating to 3.5 just for them. The hotel’s in a good spot, with great restaurants 5-10 minutes away and the bus station about 8-10 minutes on foot. Breakfast was good, with hot and cold choices. The main issue was hot water. Showers lasted barely two minutes, and I timed it. I even got up at 4:30 AM one morning hoping to beat everyone else, but that didn’t help. A developed country in Europe should be able to provide enough hot water. There was black material in the shower grout, maybe mold or missing grout. I didn’t get close enough to tell. Internet speed was around 20, but it disconnected randomly at least once a day, which would be a problem in a work meeting. The bed was OK, though it had just one pillow and it wasn’t very soft. Towels were big but usually slightly damp, probably from being hung to dry. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion were provided in tiny bottles.
