Hostel Malti

The month went by so fast I wished I could stay longer. There are lots of interesting people around, the design is great, and the staff are really friendly. The second bunk can be a little uncomfortable, but the overall experience makes up for that. Plus, you get a free bar token every evening!

The rooftop terrace has a lovely view, and the location is great, close to the sea, restaurants, bars, and some attractions. The staff are very friendly, especially the boy at reception. It’s amazing value for the price. The rooms are extremely humid. I tried leaving the windows open for fresh air, but other guests kept closing them, which could be a problem if you have asthma. The first-floor room was poorly soundproofed, so we could hear everything from the common area. Some guests stayed for a long time and acted entitled, and people would hold parties in the common area all night. Luckily, the boy at reception took it seriously and spoke with them. The sofa in the common area badly needs cleaning.

On my last day they let me leave my bags, shower, eat, and relax until my airport taxi came. I’d had to change my booking dates several times, and they were always flexible and kind about it. The lady at the front desk is absolutely lovely. Super welcoming staff, highly recommend!

My food was stolen from the refrigerator, and the other guests seemed shady. When the vending machine wouldn’t work after I tried to buy a drink, staff said it wasn’t their responsibility and tough luck. I wasn’t reimbursed. They were also very rude when I asked for a blanket and pillow for the night, and refused to give them to me. This was by far the most disappointing hostel I’ve stayed in. I found the building management completely dishonest, and wouldn’t trust anyone there. Easily my worst hostel experience.
