Hyatt Regency Malta

The hotel is a good base for exploring the island, especially if you want an alternative to staying in Valletta. It’s right by the lively nightlife in St. Julian’s and about a 10-minute walk from the nearby ultra-posh areas. The staff were wonderful, and the hotel felt reliable and high quality. The rooms were spotless, the beds very comfortable, and the spa amenities top-notch. It delivered what I expect from the Hyatt brand.

The food was excellent in both quality and variety, and I certainly left well fed. I spent two full weeks at a Hyatt while attending courses, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Everyone, from reception and F&B management to housekeeping, was professional, attentive, and clearly committed to guest comfort. What stood out was how consistently staff handled requests efficiently and warmly. Even over a longer stay, the service never felt routine or impersonal. It made a long work trip easy and genuinely enjoyable.

The people made our Easter stay memorable. Staff were warm, helpful, and clearly proud of their work. Valentin, Franklin (Front Desk Manager), and Sameer at the bar went above and beyond, and the concierge was great with maps and thoughtful island suggestions. We stayed five nights at the Hyatt Regency Malta over Easter 2026 with our five- and three-year-olds. It’s on a lovely piazza in central St Julian's, opposite the historic Augustinian priory from the late 1920s. St George's Bay is just steps away, Bay Street is next door, and Spinola Bay, with its colorful luzzu boats, is an easy 800-meter walk. Both pools were fun for the kids: a newly opened rooftop pool with lovely views on a calm, sunny day, and an indoor pool by the spa. Our five-year-old could stand and splash comfortably in the shallow ends; our three-year-old needed us close by. The suite, food, pools, free parking, and especially the team made this a holiday we’ll remember fondly. Breakfast had a great continental spread with strong vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. There were four or five hot dishes, including pancakes with chocolate and maple syrup, mini croissants, chocolate croissants and pastries, fresh-looking deli-cured salmon, cheeses, and poached, boiled, mini omelette, and scrambled eggs. You could also ask for a custom omelette or eggs cooked as you like, made fresh and brought to the table as part of the buffet. The local Maltese pastizzi were a highlight. Dinner at the hotel one evening was delicious à la carte, with attentive service. The Regency Club lounge was the one underwhelming part. It’s small, with a more limited food and drink selection than other Hyatt Regency clubs I’ve tried. Paris Étoile, for example, is in another league. It’s worth a look, but I wouldn’t make Club access the deciding factor. A note for drivers: getting to the hotel is a little unintuitive. There’s a short-term drop-off 100-200 meters from the lobby where you can leave the car to check in, and a valet can fetch your luggage if you call. The parking garage connects directly to the hotel by elevator, so there’s no hill to climb. Parking was free; get the ticket validated at the front desk. We’d absolutely return.

The rooftop pool and bar are a great place to relax and enjoy the views. Breakfast and the on-site restaurant set a remarkably high standard for the region. During the day, the hotel stayed impeccably clean, and the rooms have a sleek modern look that felt comfortable. There were plenty of service staff, and they were friendly, capable, and quick to handle requests. Everything around the hotel felt fresh, new, and much cleaner than Valletta City. Our stay at the Hyatt Regency Malta was so positive that we’d choose it again without hesitation. It’s a benchmark for hospitality in Malta.
