Paceville Hotel

I couldn't sleep well in the first room because it faced a bar with live music. The bathroom smelled, the shower curtain was moldy, and I spotted a cockroach within ten minutes. After three days I was moved, but that room had its own issues: the ceiling cooling fan was broken, and the standing fan was very loud. I once left a window open and came back to find black dust all over my things, apparently from nearby restaurants.

We were asked for another €150, twice the €75 we had paid through Airbnb. The host had seen we were unhappy and threatened to file a complaint if we left a bad review. The hostel was short-staffed, and when something went wrong there was never anyone around. The cleanliness was poor, and the Airbnb listing claimed to provide equipment that wasn't there. This was not acceptable.

The people were friendly, and the location worked well for walking to my Hilton conference. But I stayed three nights and put the room-make-up request on the door every day, and housekeeping never came once. The shower soap dispenser was filled too far up to work.

The staff did their best in a difficult situation, but the hotel is very run down. The shower leaked and barely had any pressure, so the hot water was little more than a dribble. The towels had seen better days too.
