Tropicana Hotel

The room was good quality, with a hot shower, working elevators, and a simple but tasty breakfast. Staff were friendly too, especially the guys on the night shift. The big downside is that there’s no Wi-Fi at all. I ended up spending €50 on roaming data. If you’ll be in the room for a few hours each day, factor in the daily roaming cost when comparing hotels. If that makes another place affordable, I’d choose that one. With Wi-Fi, this would be an easy recommendation.

The staff are kind and helpful, and they clean daily when you ask, including changing the towels and sheets. The rooms need a quick renovation, though. The walls and carpets are very worn and have ugly marks, and the old fridge barely closes and doesn’t work well. Only the front rooms have balconies and large windows; the others are small and have tiny windows.

For a last-minute CAD 130 booking for two nights before moving to another hotel, I had no complaints at that price. The location is right in the middle of Paceville. The room was small and old, but the washroom was clean, the shower had hot water, the toilet worked properly, and towels were provided. You have to ask reception to borrow a hair dryer, and may have to wait for someone to return it.

There was barely anything to eat at breakfast, and noise from road works and neighbours returning in the middle of the night made it hard to rest. My room was mixed up, so I was charged an extra €50, though that has since been refunded. The shower was dirty, the sink faucet was broken and barely attached, and the beds felt uncomfortable and itchy. Bugs were all over the room, including some large flying beetles. The TV had no working channels. The list goes on. Please don’t waste your money.
