Carlton Hotel

For the price, this is a lovely hotel, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Just be aware the pool isn’t heated if you’re hoping to use it in the colder months.

The staff have been excellent so far, especially Grace at Reception. She’s very kind and professional, and managed to resolve every issue we had. That’s difficult to find in this country! The facilities are in great condition, so I assume the hotel was renovated recently. They’re great.

The room was comfortable, with a good bed, air conditioning, and nice Wi-Fi. The location is great, the staff are friendly, and the terrace and pool area had pleasant views. But the room had no safe or minibar, and the bathroom was a mess. Water went everywhere when we showered, and there was nowhere to hang towels, so we used them to dry the floor. Housekeeping was inconsistent: some days we got hand towels and some days we didn’t. We had to ask more than once for body wash and towels. We tried breakfast once, but it was disappointing. The coffee was honestly undrinkable, and the food wasn’t much better, so we skipped it after that. It’s fine for a couple of nights, but breakfast definitely isn’t worth paying extra for.

The location is absolutely amazing, in that sweet spot with gorgeous views, and the staff were super nice and friendly. Excellent service. I’d give the hotel a great grade overall, but I’m knocking off a star because of the room. The toilet was horrible and never flushed properly. After they fixed it, they broke the seat, which started shifting when I sat down. Some things could’ve been cleaner too, like the sink bowel, walls, and the electricity switch box, which had a rodent stuck in it.
