Pawlu Accomodations

I stayed here in July/August 2019 and thought it was absolutely awesome. I'd choose it over a 5 Star Hotel. Marie-Therese, our host, was cheerful, caring and so friendly. She went out of her way to help, with little things and bigger needs, including directions. She'll wash and dry your clothes for only 6 euros, and makes a fantastic variety of tasty, filling breakfasts each morning. It felt like being at home. You arrive as a guest and leave as a friend. The place was immaculate, comfortable and homely. I had the double room, which was larger and had its own private terrace with two chairs and a table, lovely for relaxing in the evening. The mattress was super comfortable and I slept wonderfully. My room's private bathroom was a few metres away down some stairs, with its own lock and key. I liked that arrangement, and there were no toilet smells in the room. The other two rooms have ensuites, but I preferred mine. There's no air-con, but the traditional stone building stays cool, and ceiling and other fans keep the house comfortable without that dry air-con feeling. You can use the kitchen any time, with your own fridge space and a microwave, and there's a lounge too. The location is fantastic: a beach with cafes and restaurants is six minutes away one way, and The Stand, with ferries, buses, cafes and restaurants, is about ten minutes the other way. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church of Balluta is a five-minute walk, with many Sunday and weekday Masses. Holy Confession is available Saturday evenings, before Sunday Masses, or by appointment. There's also a shuttle pick-up service for only 15 euros each way. I can't recommend this place enough. If I return to Malta, I'd stay here again without hesitation. And the price is hard to argue with!
