The Howard Hotel

The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Benjamin, and the location was perfect, right across from a bus stop. It was also very quiet. Housekeeping did a good job and replaced our towels daily, and breakfast was good. We were here on vacation in November, and the room felt a bit cold because the AC wouldn’t heat it. The shower had no door, so water spread across the whole toilet area.

My experience with this hotel wasn’t good, though the staff were friendly and breakfast was okay. The room had no window, and all night I could see and hear the air conditioning system. On the first day, the towels had dirty stains. I heard another guest complaining about their service that day too, so I wasn’t the only one unhappy. The location is perfect. I’d booked a single room advertised with a private bathroom. It did have its own bathroom, but it was outside in the corridor, so I had to cross over whenever I needed to use it. They’re fixing the website now, but that wasn’t mentioned before. When I complained, they offered me two nights in a regular room for an extra 30€.

We made a last-minute choice to stay at the Howard for New Year because our other hotel was full, and it turned out to be a pleasant stay. Benjamin at the desk was so friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little tired, but the bed was comfortable, and tea, coffee and even a hairdryer were provided. Breakfast was included in the price, and there was plenty of it. I’d recommend it to anyone after a budget holiday in Malta.

The rooms are quite basic, and the hot water runs out if you shower for more than a few minutes. Still, the staff are exceptionally friendly, the location is good, and breakfast is excellent. I felt comfortable at the hotel.
