Hotel Castille

The air conditioning seemed to be switched off during the day, and cooling was poor at night. We were there in autumn, and I can’t imagine how stifling it would be in summer. The shower had no pressure, and it was hard to regulate the temperature, which swung between freezing and scorching. The bathrooms need updating. The shower over the bath was difficult for elderly guests to manage.

The rooftop is great and the shared spaces look lovely, which makes the rest especially frustrating. Our room was dirty, smelly, and horribly noisy, and breakfast was inedible, with really cheap food. Paying 240€ for two nights felt like a scam.

We came back because our first stay had made us very happy. On our visit at the end of January 2020, though, three of my earrings were stolen from the room, and we had to fly home the next day. We filed a theft report with the police and their investigation is still ongoing. The hotel hasn't told us anything about the result of its own investigation, and wasn't very cooperative. They need to check the cameras and find the earrings, or compensate us for the loss.

The staff were nice, and I enjoyed the included breakfast, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The rooms are small, the furnishings old and grungy, and there are marks on the walls. Mold covers the grout lines in the tiny bathroom, and the air conditioning is very poor. The location is the only reason to choose this hotel, and the overall experience was not good at all.
