Palazzo Rosaria Boutique Hotel

I accidentally made a booking and asked to cancel a few minutes later. I asked the hotel’s Manager to waive the cancellation fee, but they declined, saying the « short notice cancellation » terms applied. That ignored the fact that I'd only just made the booking and requested cancellation immediately. I was charged 545eur for 15 minutes of a virtual booking. Everyone would appreciate a more commercial approach.

Lovely decor, clean rooms, and friendly, helpful staff in this beautiful boutique hotel in the centre of beautiful Valletta. It made for a perfect long weekend city break. Highly recommend.

The staff were very friendly and the central location was good, but the stay fell far short of what we expected for the price. We spent nine nights at Palazzo Rosaria Hotel in Valletta with our 2-year-old child, and wouldn't return. The bed had a poor-quality mattress and pillows and was uncomfortable. Every shower flooded the whole bathroom floor, however careful we were, and the soundproofing was so poor it felt like sleeping on the street. Our room was in a narrow alley and had no natural light. Breakfast was basic, with limited choice, served in a small hall in front of reception. Vegetarians would struggle; luckily we're not, since eggs were the only decent option. Our Booking.com reservation clearly said a child under 2 stays free, but at check-in we were told that only applied if the child slept in our bed. A baby cot would cost an extra €250, which had never been mentioned beforehand. Also, the hotel is in a pedestrian zone, so you'll need to push luggage uphill for a few minutes to reach somewhere a taxi can stop. This was our sixth trip to Malta, and our previous accommodation had always been satisfactory. This one was a clear miss. We enjoyed the island, but for this price there are much better places to stay in Malta.

We had a great couple of nights in room 603, with its own roof terrace and jacuzzi. The air conditioning worked very effectively, as it seems to across Malta/Gozo. Breakfast was a well-stocked buffet with a full English, cold cuts, fruit, yoghurt and pastries. Our older kids absolutely loved the mini chocolate donuts. One thing to know: after 9:30 in the morning traffic is prohibited, so you'll walk 100-200m from the taxi drop-off to the hotel. It's no problem, just useful to be aware.
