The lounge at The Phoenicia Malta made quite an impression, even though we weren't staying there. We came for a candlelight concert after receiving a Valentine’s gift ticket, and spent time in the lobby before it began. We had drinks at the bar, served by a professional bartender, then stayed after the performance instead of heading straight back to our hotel in St. Julian’s. With its high ceilings, architectural details, paintings, elegant furnishings, and generous space, the lobby has a real sense of luxury. Piano and violin music played during our visit, adding to the atmosphere. We settled on the sofas with coffee and espresso, and the waiters were polished, attentive, and professional. There were cakes, tarts, and macarons to choose from, too. Just sitting in that lounge felt like an experience in itself. We had a memorable time relaxing there and enjoying the live music and hospitality.

The location is convenient, and the staff communicate politely. After the problems during my stay, the manager offered me a free night and late checkout as an apology, which I appreciated. The first night, a faulty fire alarm woke me up. Reception said it wouldn't happen again, but on the second day the siren went off while I was on the phone in my room. I got anxious that I might need to evacuate, though it was another false alarm. This happened despite my paying for one of the expensive rooms. They don't replace the water bottles, so once the first day's bottle is empty you have to use the minibar or bring water from outside. The phone is awkward too: you need to press the green button and then the number straight away. The restaurant portions were so small that I was still hungry and ordered from Bolt on the second day. Having food brought to the room costs an extra 5 euros on top of the order.

I've stayed at and visited the Phoenicia Hotel over many years, and the service has stayed outstanding every time. The staff are warm, courteous, and professional, and the food is excellent, with plenty of delicious choices. Among the luxury five-star hotels I've experienced around the world, it offers one of the finest levels of service. I highly recommend it for its exceptional hospitality.

Right at the gates of Valletta, the location makes it easy to get to everything and offers breathtaking views. The property is stunning, with timeless elegance alongside modern comfort. I've stayed at The Phoenicia Malta before, and this visit was just as beautiful, refined, and welcoming as I remembered. The staff were warm, attentive, and clearly committed to making the stay memorable. My room was spotless, the dining was exceptional, and the thoughtful service was impeccable throughout. It's rare for a hotel to keep such a high standard over the years. I look forward to coming back soon.
