Villa Munqar

We’d definitely stay again. The villa is in a very quiet, non-touristy part of Malta, which makes it ideal for a peaceful break. Blue Grotto is just a 5 minute drive away, with several restaurants there, and Valletta is around 25 minutes by car. There are good local shops within walking distance. The large pool was the highlight, just the right temperature in July-August for cooling off in the heat. Plenty of sun loungers and outdoor seating with parasols, too. The villa is well appointed and maintained inside and out, with three clean bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, which worked really well for a large group. The big kitchen had everything we needed, including a dishwasher and washing machine. It’s on a hill, so the gardens are kept nicely and there’s a gentle breeze, very welcome in August, along with a fantastic view across the south of the island from Mdina to Sliema. The view would be even better if the bushes were trimmed just a little.
