The Residence Mauritius

Divya gave me such a calming, relaxing massage, thank you! This hotel is a dream, so romantic, with a heavenly location, delicious food, fantastic service, and kind, polite, welcoming staff. A must stay when visiting the Island. 🤍 Fabulous treat!

I loved how warm and welcoming the staff were to us and the other guests. Everyone there deserves a blessing, I just love kind people. The reception team also let me use another room until we had to leave for the airport in the evening on checkout day. I’m pregnant and needed to rest, so I really appreciated their understanding. We were happy with everything, the room cleanliness, service, food, and beach were all 10/10. The spa was really good too, with wonderful staff who took great care of me. I enjoyed everything at the buffet. The beach is one of the best I’ve seen. It was so clean and quiet, without crowds, and I could spend every day there if I could. If we return to Mauritius, we’ll definitely stay here again.

We’d come back, as the hotel is excellent overall. The Plantation restaurant, managed by Radhoa, serves high-quality food that was exceptional, and the spa treatments from Aurelie and Clina were outstanding. Sailen, our butler, was attentive to all our needs and didn’t consider any job too small. Jackie in the bar area was friendly, always smiling as she welcomed and looked after guests. The location, rooms, service, and food at the Plantation restaurant all feel five-star. The evening buffet could use some attention to its quality, variety, and presentation.

My wife went hungry more than once, and the constant need to raise her food requirements with managers before and after meals made us feel ignored. With no other food options at the resort, this was wholly unacceptable for the price we paid and ruined our stay. We chose The Residence for a nine-day visit after researching Mauritius extensively for a hotel that could handle my wife’s food allergies. We also sent several emails about her dietary needs and felt confident in the assurances we received. But when we arrived in time for dinner on the first day, the hotel had made no provision. While other diners had plenty of buffet choices for every course, my wife had very little or nothing to choose from. We spoke with managers and chefs, explained our disappointment, and were told things would improve. They didn’t. On later nights she was given a fixed starter, main, and dessert, which felt like the hotel simply didn’t care. She had no say in the choices and often didn’t like them. We repeatedly suggested offering a menu of several dinner and dessert options she could safely choose from, but the suggestion wasn’t taken up. For a five-star hotel serving buffet meals, its preparation and delivery of food for guests with allergies was non-existent and very poor value. Anyone with special dietary needs should seriously consider staying here, regardless of any assurances given in advance.
