The Bay Guest House

We booked an ocean-view room and had a beautiful outlook from the terrace. The hotel isn’t luxurious, but it’s cozy and reasonably priced. It sits right by a lovely beach with boats in the water, and swimming is easy. There’s also a nice pool. The restaurant and bar never made our room noisy, and several other good restaurants are a 10-15 minute walk away. The beach bag was a thoughtful touch, as were the two bottles of water each day and the tea and instant coffee. Breakfast was tasty, with really fresh croissants and baguettes, better than ones we had later at a five-star hotel. I did find it odd that only filtered coffee was available. We could also have lunch and dinner at the hotel, though the curries came with lots of rice and only a little meat. The receptionist asked for our passport copies ahead of time and filled in the details, so we didn’t have to spend time on that at check-in. We also arranged a boat trip in advance. One drawback: after lunch, all the sunbeds are in full sun, so it’s not possible to stay there. Maybe the hotel could move the umbrellas or use different ones.

The setting right on the beach is lovely, and we appreciated the warm welcome from the lively service team. We’ve brought our three children to the restaurant a couple of times now, and the food has been delicious and excellent quality each visit. The menu leans toward international and Creole seafood, meat, and burgers, with Indian recipes too. Thanks for having us.

We’ve eaten here twice and were happy both times. The Black Angus Burger was fantastic, honestly the best burger I’ve ever had. Food came out quickly, and the staff were very friendly. Being right on the beach makes the location even better. I’d gladly recommend it.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean, but the hotel could use a refresh. At £180 during Easter break, the price feels too high for the level of the place. Still, the beachside setting is lovely, the food is good, and the atmosphere and staff were both warm and professional. We felt welcome, and they kindly agreed to a late checkout.
