Bayview Villa

Patricia gave us a friendly, efficient welcome and showed us the amenities in the three apartments we booked for a family and friends gathering. Everything was spotless, with air conditioning, a kitchen for self-catering, TV, Wi-Fi, and more. The extra mattress was much appreciated and got used. We did have some small hassles: payment is due on arrival and you need cash because there's no card machine, and one outside door was difficult to open and close. That took an annoying amount of time for a one-night stay. Patricia offered late checkout, which gave us almost another full day. The location is stunning, right by the beach and an easy stroll to central Grand Bay. For value and cleanliness, this place is hard to beat. The issues were minor overall, and we can't wait to return.

After arriving at 6 a.m. following a late flight, we had to wait four hours on the beach because our apartment wasn't ready. One resident was rude and chased us away from the seating area, and other residents kept complaining about where we parked. It became stressful and frustrating, so we left after two days. The apartments themselves were clean and centrally placed, with restaurants on both sides and central Grand Baie a short walk away. Good value if you're after budget accommodation.

This place has a lot of potential, but we won't be coming back. We had arranged an early check-in and confirmed it again two days before arriving, and were told it was all set. Then we got there at 6 a.m., exhausted after a sleepless night, and were told to wait on the beach until around 10:30 or 11, after the other guests checked out. That's only the beginning. A capable manager on site to communicate clearly and manage guests would make a real difference.

Bayview is right on the beach, literally zero metres away. Step out into the yard and you're on the sand. There are some good grill places nearby too.
